TOM & MARK : 09.03.2011
SO EXCITED!

We can’t tell you how excited we are to be seeing you all in a couple of weeks.

Thank you so much to everyone who is making their way over - we’re going to make this special for everyone.

The most important thing is that we all celebrate together, however if you’re feeling generous we’ve compiled a wedding registry. While this being US based may seem annoying to those in the UK – it will save on shipping and really help us set up in our new home (the exchange rate is also pretty UK friendly right not too!)http://www.fitzsu.com/wedding-registry-tomos-evans-mark-meyerhoff-r-100714.html

As many of you know there has been a very protracted debate as to where on earth the three of us (can’t forget Morris) are going to be living… NYC / London / LA…well, the good news is we’ve finally come to a decision.
NYC’s been great and while London is without doubt home we didn’t feel it was time to come back just yet…throw in a great job offer, plenty of exciting opportunities and the decision was made that LA is next stop on our journey.
While it means there will be a fair bit of extra flying over the next few months this doesn’t change the plans for the celebration - it actually makes it even more special - we can’t wait for all our closest friends from all over the world to be together for what will be a brilliant few days.
Morris is clearly also very excited to be by the beach.

It will come as no surprise to many of you (and none at all when you’ve had your invitation) but the party will be at Soho House (London).

We’ve got the Roof Deck and Club Bar from 8pm, there won’t be a formal meal but plenty of drinks to celebrate.

Please use the 21 Old Compton Street Entrance - reception will point you in the right direction.

We’ve negotiated a special rate at the Dean Street Townhouse for members of our party…check out the link and if you like the look of it please email the reservations team on hotel@deanstreettownhouse.com and quote the Evans Meyerhoff party. This will get all non Soho House members the same rates as members. This discount will be given when you are checking out - so the cost they quote you will be minus about 20% - the more from the party who stay there - the greater the discount!

This hotel is great and less than five mintures walk from the venue so makes stumbling back in the early hours far more practical.

HOW TO GET THERE

With many of our close family and friends based in the States we know that flying to London is a big ask - we really hope as many of you as possible can make it - the choice of where this could happen was out of our hands (and no the change in law in NYC makes no difference). Please address any complaints to a Mr.B.Obama, Washington.

We tend to find Virgin Atlantic - www.virgin-atlantic.com - as the most reliable and cost efficient airline from NYC / LA to Heathrow.

It’s a holiday weekend in the US so hopefully you can take full advantage of the excuse to come to London at the best time of year…

DRESS CODE?

The main thing for us is that you a) come b) have a great time – so there is no official dress code.

Make an effort because it’s a celebration – but remember it’s Soho House and we are very pleased that ties are banned.

A nice fascinator or two is always welcome though.

It’s no secret that we love London more than is probably healthy. For those who don’t call it home, both the hotel and venue couldn’t be more central – perfect to explore the galleries, museums, shops, restaurants… Some of our favorite things which are all within 10 / 15 (depending on shoes) minutes walking distance - Liberty – simply the best shop in the world. If you’re trying to find Tom try the oyster bar in the basement!Flat White / Milk Bar – Americans please don’t leave without trying a Flat White coffee. These also happen to be the coffee shops we hid in together when escaping the office! The Royal Academy – we will have just missed the Summer Exhibition but still always worth a visit. The new restaurant also looks great. The National Portrait Gallery – shows are clearly great but if you can’t face culture – head to the roof top restaurant for a glass of bubbles and enjoy wonderful views of Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament… South Bank – far be it from us to recommend south London but a walk along the Thames on the South Bank really is special – from pubs and touristy things to the Hayward GalleryScotts – a real treat but its a celebratory weekend so why not? Use your feet – best of all is just getting lost and finding something new – Soho is a warren and all the better for it!
